I recently just discovered Donyale Luna, I've been doing some research on her and her story is a tragic one to say the least. While reading all of the information on the internet it seems as though most of the info about her is negative and that she was ashamed of being Black.
I think people should realize that in the 60's (and still now) it wasn't easy to get ahead in the Fashion/Modeling industry if you were a woman of color. For Donyale to have been one of the first Black fashion models to grace the cover of Vogue UK is a huge accomplishment and I think we should celebrate her accomplishments not her tragedies.
